It's 1-2-4-3 in case you don't already know. But if it's a 6 volt coil don't keep the key on for very long with the resistor by-passed or you will be buying a new coil. Also, not all 12 volt coils have internal resistors. Strange that you had 12 volts at the coil at one time and then it was down to 4 another time.

Ignition coils supply the distributor with high voltage electricity to fire the spark plugs. The coil consists of a primary winding (coil of copper wire) and a secondary winding inside of the housing and in very close proximity to each other. The primary winding is energized with battery voltage by the ignition module ...

through the coil activating the relay. The coil then generates the magnetic field which moves the contact to the opposite pin. Numbers of a Relay Looking at the diagram, we see the pinout of a typical 12V relay. Note that each pin is numbered. 85 and 86 are the coil pins while 30, 87, and 87a are the switch pins. Mar 03, 2016 · I just measured an old Coil and Ballast resistor, in our test lab. The coil, PN 45192A, dated 9 66, with the short lead to the Ballast resistor still attached, so I am pretty sure it was intended for use with the external Ballast. Measured 1.37 Ohms. It's a pretty cold unit, been setting in a freezing garage for a while.

Jan 15, 2012 · All stags were fitted with a ballast resistor and a 6 volt coil. The Mk1 resistor was a discrete component situated by the coil. The Mk2 resistor is not a component that can easily be identified because it is part of the wiring loom. Instead of the loom having a copper wire going to the coil, it was made of resistance wire (constantan). Sep 17, 2020 · A resistor is a little package of resistance: wire it into a circuit and you reduce the current by a precise amount. From the outside, all resistors look more or less the same. As you can see in the top photo on this page, a resistor is a short, worm-like component with colored stripes on the side.
